The Emergency Department at Atlanta Medical Center (AMC) is staffed 24 hours a day with a team of skilled healthcare workers. Upon arriving at the AMC Emergency department, staff determine the severity of each patient's condition to make sure that those with life-threatening illnesses or injuries are seen first.
Emergency patients are often treated for:
- Trauma: heart attacks, loss of breathing ability, loss of consciousness, and/or multiple injuries. Atlanta Medical Center is a Level 1 Trauma Center - one of only two in Atlanta.
- General Emergency Issues: abdominal pain, trouble breathing, minor accident injuries, and/or possible stroke
- Ancillary Services: blood tests, X-rays, CAT scan (picture of soft tissue), and/or Ultrasound (to examine the heart and other organs).
AMC cares for everyone regardless of the ability to pay, but staffers will request that you provide your name, address, phone number, social security number, name of a relative, and insurance information. For more information, call 404-265-4136.
