Indications Conference – Combined conference with Neurosurgery and Orthopaedics. Attendings and residents discusses difficult pre-operative cases

Clinical Topics – Discussed at length before clinic/surgery and during clinic/surgery, based on readings from OKU Foot and Ankle and multiple research articles given to the residents by the attendings.

Sports Medicine
Sports Medicine Journal Club – Once a year with Dr. Kelly
Observe first hand the treatment of professional football and hockey players at the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta Thrashers training sites and games.
Clinical Topics – discussed at length before clinic/surgery and during clinic/surgery, based on readings from the the DeLee and Drez text and the multiple research articles.

Research
The residents have regular interactions with Dr. Ganey regarding research opportunities. In particular technologies that afford opportunities to engage and review innovations in regenerative medicine are a key focus. Genetic diagnostics, cell-based therapeutics, and novel biomaterials have been identified as key areas of translational medicine initiatives – essentially goals of bench to bedside dynamics.
