This elective will provide the senior medical student an opportunity to comprehensively evaluate patients with peripheral vascular disease.
The senior medical student will be assigned to the Vascular Surgical Service and will assume responsibilities similar to those of PG-I level residents, which include perioperative assessment and postoperative management of patients with arterial insufficiency. Presentation of appropriate cases at the biweekly Vascular Conference will be expected and encouraged. The student will scrub daily on arterial and venous surgical procedures.
Opportunities for assistance with clinical research and publications are available if desired. The student will participate in the private attending vascular surgeons office to gain continuity of care exposure.
