Graduate Medical Education Program
Obstetrics & Gynecology Jr._Sr

At Atlanta Medical Center, the junior and senior student will be introduced to the full spectrum of disciplines in Obstetrics and Gynecology. The student will participate in antepartum rounds, patient work-ups, deliveries and postpartum care. Students have the option of selecting from one of two elective rotations. General OB/GYN and Ambulatory OB/GYN.

Obstetrics and Gynecology

The student is assigned responsibility for the evaluation and care of obstetrics and gynecology patients under the supervision of the resident physicians and staff physician. This elective provides two weeks of general OB and two weeks of general gynecology. An active labor and delivery suite sees about 3,000 antepartum admissions each year with approximately 2,500 deliveries. The gynecology service includes an active operating room and outpatient surgi-center representing a full range of gynecologic surgery. Students on the gynecology service will assist in the workup of surgery and post-op care of patients with attendings and residents. Additionally, the emergency room visits are covered by the gynecology service.

Ambulatory Obstetrics and Gynecology

A comprehensive experience in women's health care awaits the student at Atlanta Medical Center. The number of students on each rotation is limited. Questions concerning electives including application information may be directed to the Residency Coordinator at (404) 265-4614. The Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Atlanta Medical Center is Rhonda Latif, M.D.
