A senior medical student elective providing a well-rounded experience in Family Medicine is available to all interested. The four-week rotation is separated into two blocks which allows exposure to both the Family Medicine inpatient service at Atlanta Medical Center as well as outpatient care at the Family Practice Residency Program Clinic in Morrow. Under supervision of the inpatient team, the student is responsible for the care of assigned patients. In-hospital call is once per week during the entire elective, and at least one weekend day is to be included. A second-year resident provides back-up. The outpatient experience provides exposure to the full breadth practice of Family Medicine including pediatric, adult, geriatric and obstetrical care along with a multitude of procedures.
