Connection Feels Like Home
Treatment for cancer often involves daily administration of radiation therapy or chemotherapy. For anyone suffering from cancer, driving to and from these appointments is exhausting enough. But add to it the burden of being treated in a city different from the one you live in, and a whole list of other factors come into play including the uneasiness of being away from home while you are feeling badly, the expense of eating out regularly, and the anxiety of traveling to appointments in an unfamiliar city.
The Cancer Pavilion at Atlanta Medical Center has an American Cancer Society Hope Lodge Connection that allows patients who travel from more than 25 miles outside of Atlanta to have a place to stay while receiving cancer treatment at the facility. The Hope Lodge Connection has 12 rooms with a common kitchen area, dining area and laundry room.
For more information on the Hope Lodge Connection, call the American Cancer Society Liaison at 404-265-0058.
